Concealed handgun permit: Renewal

If you are renewing your Lincoln County Sheriff CHP:

If you are a Lincoln County Resident and currently have a Lincoln County Permit, within 90 days before your permit expires, you’ll be mailed a renewal letter or download the Renewal packet. Complete the application and the affidavit of continued firearms qualification.

All renewal applicants must have a certificate from a verified instructor to proceed with your application.

Certificates must contain the applicant’s name, course name, date of course and the instructor’s original signature as well as instructor’s NRA or POST certification number. Online, home study, and hunter safety courses will not be accepted

Training Requirements

The laws related to concealed handgun permit training requirements changed as of July 1, 2025. On this date, new applications must be accompanied by evidence of competence with a firearm through an original training certificate from a verified instructor dated within one year of application. Additional information can be found at C.R.S. 18-12-203(1)(h).

Renewal applicants will be required to submit proof that they’ve completed a handgun refresher class taught by a verified instructor within 6 months prior to submission.

Out-of-state training certificates will NOT be accepted.

Things to bring while renewing your concealed carry permit / CHP:
- Your Driver's License
- Money Order or Cashier Check ONLY to "C.B.I." ($13.00)
- $50 (any form) to Lincoln County Sheriff
- Application form

Be prepared to get fingerprinted and photographed!
Note: If your name has changed, please be prepared to be fingerprinted again.
Also, we will need proof of name change.
